yes she practices a Japanese art, but Rousey has great kung fu (skill developed over time through hard work). Also, she has chong, lao and yi (forward energy, flow, shapes). 7 wins by 7 armbars out of 7 fights= good kung fu.

Mma kick of the year.

We hated to see Cung Le lose at UFC139 last night. I believe has the skill, but he didn’t come in with his usual conditioning. Moreover, it seemed Le came to compete in the sport of mma. Silva came to do combat. Our school acknowledges five martial arts activities. The first three are from the Shaolin temple: 1. Self improvement, 2. Health/fitness, 3. Combat. The last two are from the outside world: 4. Sports, 5. Entertainment. Confusing #4 with #3 is what caused the demise of many a “traditional” martial artist in the early days of UFC, and gave rise to the “mixed” martial artists we see today.

Cung Le vs. Shonie Carter

It was supposed to go down as one of the greatest fights in recent history. Cain Velasquez, in his first title defense after claiming the UFC Heavyweight Title from Brock Lesnar, was confident that he would continue his undefeated streak against his challenger, Junior dos Santos. November 12, 2011 will go down in history, however, not for the reasons first believed.

In stunning fashion, dos Santos landed a massive right hand to Velasquez’s left ear, which completely eliminated his equilibrium, flooring him. dos Santos then delivered a ten-punch tirade, calling a stoppage by John McCarthy at 1:04 in the first round. -via Yahoo Sports
